I don’t know about you but…

I am the decider.

I do know that plenty and lots of people who like to begin their day raging over the latest (perceived) outrage in politics. Some gorge on their morning memes as if they were breakfast cereal or the fuel to start their day. Others read headlines from news outlets and fill up on that.

Politics get their blood flowing and makes them feel alive and possibly makes some feel like they are participating in a movement as they circulate the headlines in their Facebook posts. Power to these people!

… but I am not one of them.

“I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

I don't wish to start my social media day with outrage posted by my acquaintances. I like to decide what to read and I like to choose the experiences I invite into my day. For that reason alone I went on a mission to discover if there was

 an app for that.

What I found was Social Fixer. I added this app to my Chrome browser and it permitted to me to filter out political posts from my Facebook experience.

Hurrah! I don't want to un-follow FB friends because I miss the other delightful portions of what they have to share. I do not begrudge them their opinions, I just don't want to hear 12 outraged political posts from each person every day. Where some may be fueled, I feel hit over the head by the posts and what feels like a level of PTSD at being battered continuously by opinions and name calling. The ongoing negativity is more than I want to bear. It is okay with me if others find joy in that. I'm just going to sit over here and enjoy the filters of the Social Fixer.

We are not impervious to the amount of nonsense

we expose ourselves to.

Install Social Fixer from a desktop, I did not notice this app among the mobile apps. We can't always decide what experiences we will have, for those times we can decide how to respond. I like to respond with a solution when possible. I hope you like this one. Social Fixer has other filters as well, it is not limited to the politics, you can filter out specific words. You can filter the types of nonsense you're exposed to.

Follow and please SHARE this article on your social feed, your friends want to know about this, too!
